The excitement has been building at Shawmut for weeks and the time has finally arrived. Tomorrow we’re hosting Marketing Science—an exclusive event for Shawmut’s community of marketers, designers and print professionals. The event has been in the works for months and the response has been overwhelming! We’ve got a full house with nearly 100 of our clients and prospects attending our ½ day conference and open house. The event will include three educational opportunities, a solutions showcase, networking reception, prize giveaways and more.
Our speakers include Daniel Dejan from Sappi, Molly Rosenthal from Mohawk, and Kate Dunn from InfoTrends. Their sessions span topics related to print, paper, direct mail, and graphic design and attendees will walk away with actionable insights they can implement immediately. More importantly, our speakers will focus on the reasons why buyers respond to marketing messages. Their presentations will show why neuroscience, demographics, environment and other factors shape our experience and make us hard wired to react in certain ways. Using data and real-world examples, they’ll show attendees how to unlock opportunities in their marketing plan.
Marketing Science follows Shawmut’s recent expansion and installation of our new Komori G40 offset press. The new 8-color press which prints on both sides in one pass using H-UV ink technology, expands our marketing and print production capabilities while lowering Shawmut’s carbon footprint. As one of only a few printers in New England to invest in the Komori G40, Shawmut is excited about the new opportunities this press offers its clients including:
Faster turnaround time with 2-sided printing and UV inks that dry instantly
Unlike conventional presses, the G40 uses H-UV ink technology which dries instantly—eliminating the need for coating and reducing the overall production time. The Komori G40, which prints up to 16,000 sheets per hour, will reduce makeready time by 45% and paper waste by 55%. On average this will save 750,000 sheets of paper or approximately 1,000 trees per year. In addition H-UV inks lower emissions, energy and ink consumption furthering Shawmut’s commitment to environmentally-friendly and sustainable business practices.
“The G40 is a game changer. Not only does it shorten production time but it opens up new creative possibilities for our clients using UV inks and coatings that create outstanding visual effects,” adds Michael Peluso. “We are really excited for Marketing Science and to show our clients what this press can do.”
The Komori G40 is one of six new pieces of equipment Shawmut has added since the fall of 2015. The company continues to invest in new technology and equipment furthering its vast array of capabilities. In addition to the H-UV press, Shawmut has added a high speed, high volume black and white printing solution, new bindery equipment, a four-color envelope press and a specialty coating machine.
Marketing Science is part of Shawmut Thinks—a new platform designed to spark ideas and collaboration throughout the marketing and design community.
