Last week, Shawmut Communications Group was delighted to attend the Printing Industries of New England’s (PINE) 10th annual awards gala at Mechanics Hall in Worcester, MA. The Awards of Excellence gala honors the best printing work throughout New England for the previous year. Each year the event offers an opportunity to recognize our industry’s outstanding work, applaud individuals who have moved our industry forward, and support the next generation of aspiring printers.
Shawmut Communications Group is delighted to announce that we received 8 Pinnacle Awards (the most outstanding entry in each category), 3 Awards of Recognition (runner-up in each category), and 7 Awards of Merit (entries recognized for their quality of printing). These projects highlight some of the incredible work we produced in 2016 across print, direct mail, wide format, and more.
Congratulations to all of our 2017 PINE Awards of Excellence Winners

About PINE
PINE is the largest trade association to serve printing and graphic communications companies throughout New England. PINE serves more than 360 member companies through a wide range of products and services that enhance member profitability. The Association is affiliated with the world’s largest graphic arts trade association, Printing Industries of America.
Printing Excellence is a Partnership
Much of the work featured above was produced on Shawmut’s H-UV offset press which was purchased in early 2016. And while the right print equipment can play an important role in producing award-winning work these projects are really made possible by the combined efforts and creativity of our staff and clients. One of this year’s PINE award judges summed it up best when he described this year’s entrants:
“The synergy that takes place between the designer and the printer is great,” said Michael Klyn, a PINE judge and chairman of the judges for PIA’s Premier Print Awards. “You can see there is a lot of communication that takes place. The proper paper has been chosen along with finishing techniques and great use of color.”
Collaboration is the key to creating beautifully printed pieces. At Shawmut we pride ourselves on taking a consultative role with our clients, not just a print order. From the very beginning of a project we look to support our clients with recommendations that range from design and copy to paper stocks and specialty print effects. We also push the boundaries with our own creative pieces and look for new concepts and techniques that we can explore and test on behalf of our clients.
