Five of our Favorite Projects from 2015

Written by Michelle Cardin | Dec 31, 2015 8:51:27 PM

With the end of 2015 upon us, we wanted to take a look back at some of our favorite projects that we featured during International Print Day (IDP). International Print Day, celebrated each October, brings together print professionals, designers, paper suppliers and other industry professionals to share great examples of print and marketing through social media. The 2015 International Print Day was a tremendous success—generating 7,793 Tweets and 27,062,860 timeline impressions from over 1,362 contributors!

Below are some of the examples we shared for IDP 15. We look forward to sharing many more examples for IDP 16 and helping our clients produce amazing work in the year to come.

Boston College - Pops Ticket Mailer

There are many ways to add dimension to print—without breaking the bank. Whether it’s a simple pop-up or custom die-cut shape, dimension doesn’t always mean delivering your message is a box. Here's a great fundraising example from our client Boston College. Using unique die cuts and a custom pocket folder they elegantly thanked their donors and distributed tickets for their upcoming event—giving the piece dimension and purpose at the same time.

Quick Pivot - Dimensional Product Demo

On the other end of the spectrum when you deliver a package in the mail you’re sure to grab the attention of your audience. In fact, the Direct Marketing Association reports that dimensional mail achieves an average response of 3.4%, much higher than email at .12%. Here’s a great example of a dimensional mail program for our QuickPivot. They turned a mini dry erase board into a real-life product demo. The mailer mirrored their online marketing platform and came complete with movable magnets created in our wide format department to represent the dynamic customer journey. A great example of how print brings products to life!

NxStage Medical - Accordion Folded Piece

Studies show that the neuroscience of touch—otherwise known as Haptics—influences our perception of quality. Consider adding a soft touch aqueous coating to your next piece like in this example from our client NxStage Medical. The soft velvety feel creates a positive tactile effect and a higher perceived value. Plus they added an interesting accordion fold to make the piece interactive and fun.

CoCo Key - Takeout Box

The CoCo Key takeout box project has been a favorite among Shawmut staff and visitors who tour our sample room. The box gave our client, Doubletree Resorts, the ability to create a lasting impression for their Coco Key Water Resort. These digitally printed die-cut boxes are great for distributing gifts, literature, and promotional items to customers and guests.

Planet Shoes Catalog

In the digital age, catalogs are making a comeback with more than 12.5 billion mailed to homes in the U.S. last year. We help our clients like Planet Shoes distribute beautiful catalogs that leverage data-driven design, special print effects, and the ability to integrate digital technology. This piece used a special sandpaper finish on the cover that not only captured the attention of their shoppers but also helped Shawmut win one of 11 awards of excellence at the 2015 PINE Awards.
