The holiday season is a magical time of year. It brings out the creative spirit in all of us. From holiday cards and promotions to heartfelt thank-you mailers and appreciation gifts, we see it all at Shawmut. And with Christmas only a few days away we wanted to share some of our team's creativity.
Daniel Ortolaza, Shawmut’s Director of Estimating, recently wrote a holiday poem for our employee newsletter called Shawmut Impressions, but we couldn't resist sharing it with everyone! Dan captured the essence of Shawmut’s holiday season perfectly and the little bit of magic that we see happen on our production floor every day. We hope you enjoy it. From all of us at Shawmut, we wish you a Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year!
'Twas the Night Before Printing
by Daniel Ortolaza
'Twas the day before the due date, when all through the shop,
Not a person was calm…. So much hip to their hop.
The invoices were ready and postage was due,
All the while hoping that contracts would renew.
The pressman were settled in, weekend work aligned,
While visions of power outages danced in their minds.
Folders would clap, some said they chattered,
But steady as they go, the output really mattered.
Fulfilling orders and stuffing envelopes at this time of year,
Saint Nick's elves once said “Just cheer baby, cheer!”
While cell phones rang and orders were taken,
Another schedule would soon be forsaken.
On first rush, On second rush, On third rush, oh jest,
Another deadline would soon be more important than the rest.
While cards are printed, folded and alike,
Envelopes are prepared with silver foil in sight.
Now miss this detail and some would say,
You’ve missed the point altogether day after day.
A printers poem is all inclusive,
Pride in our craft yet not exclusive,
The total of a group that makes us one,
See you next year…...Next year is already won!
Happy Holidays!
